Dean Koontz profile and books

Dean Koontz was born in Pennsylvania in July 1945. He started writing at a young age, selling his works to family and friends. On finishing college, he wrote in his spare time while working for the Appalachion Poverty Program and as a school English teacher. His wife supported him for several years while he started writing full-time, and he is now one of the most highly paid authors in the world.

Koontz is probably best known for his suspense thrillers but also writes in other genres including science fiction and fantasy as well as comic books.

He has a talent for producing tales of horror and suspense that include an element of struggle to do the right and honourable thing. His characters and plots are anything but conventional.

Over a dozen of his books have risen to number one on the New York Times bestseller list, and his books have been translated into at least 38 languages.
