Mick Herron was born in Newcastle on Tyne and now lives in Oxford. He has a degree in English from Balliol College, Oxford.
Herron began his writing career in the crime fiction genre with the Sarah Tucker/Zoë Boehm series, set mostly in Oxford, as well as short stories and a standalone novel. He moved to the Spy thriller genre with the very successful Slough House series in order to write about wider issues.
