Jo Nesbø Profile and Books

Jo Nesbø was born in 1960 in Molde in Norway. He studied Economics and Business Administration and worked as a freelance journalist and as a stockbroker before becoming a writer.

But Nesbo’s first love was soccer. At the age of 17 he played for Molde, a premier league team in Norway and hoped to continue his soccer career in England. But injuries put an end to his ambitions. Nesbo has also played in a band and written songs for much of his adult life.

It was on a trip to Australia that Nesbo started his first book. He was supposed to write an article about travelling with a band, but instead started work on his first novel. ‘The Bat’ was a success and Nesbo’s writing career has continued from there.

Nesbo still sings and plays guitar with his band. He lives in Oslo near his former wife and their daughter.
