Belinda Bauer was born in 1962 in England. She spent 10 years of her childhood in South Africa (under Apartheid) and the rest of her childhood in England. She has worked as a journalist and was an award winning screenwriter and her first novel ‘Blacklands’ was published in 2010.
Bauer’s writing is very dark. She does not necessarily consider herself a crime writer, but crime often leads to the most interesting stories. Her novels are usually told from a child’s perspective (Rubbernecker was from the perspective of a young man with Asperger’s).
Her advice to aspiring writers is to write until you know it’s the best it can be, then give it to someone who doesn’t love you to review, then rewrite.
Belinda Bauer currently lives in Wales.
