Clare Mackintosh is an English novelist who spent 12 years working in the police force. As a police Inspector, her job involved a lot of writing but not much creativity. She was also working very long hours and wanted to spend more time with her 3 young children.
Mackintosh left the police force in 2011 and worked as a freelance journalist and social media consultant. She also started to write fiction.
Mackintosh’s first novel ‘I Let You Go’ took years of rewrites and edits, but once published became a huge success. She has taken a different approach with her second novel ‘I See You’ which has just been published.
Clare Mackintosh lives in the Cotswolds with her husband and children.
