Sharon ‘S.J.’ Bolton grew up in Lancashire, the oldest of three girls. Her earliest ambition was to become an actress and dancer. She studied Ballet, tap and jazz from childhood and went on to study drama at university.
She went on to work in marketing and PR and studied for an MBA. It was while studying that she met her husband Andrew. She worked in PR in London before moving to Oxford to start a family.
Her beginnings in writing came after a work colleague took time off work to write a Mills and Boon novel. She liked the idea and while she never had a novel published by Mills and Boon, she loved writing.
Bolton has always been interested in dark crime – the sinister things that lurk beneath the surface of normal life. She has become a master of truly gruesome psychological thrillers.
Sharon Bolton lives in a village in the Chiltern Hills near Oxford with her husband Andrew, their son, and their dog Lupe.
