Tana French was born in 1973 in the USA. Her father travelled for work and she spent her childhood in the USA, Italy, Malawi and Ireland. Although she has lived in Dublin since 1990, she holds citizenship of Ireland, Italy and USA.
French trained in acting at Trinity College Dublin and went on to work in theatre, film and voice-over. It was in the long breaks between casting that she started to write her first novel – ‘In The Woods’. She had always loved mystery so chose this genre.
Her novels are a combination of police procedural and psychological thriller. They have been hugely successful, winning many awards.
Tana French lives in Dublin with her husband and two children.
