Stef Penney Profile and Books

Stef Penney was born in 1969 in Edinburgh. She attended Bristol University where she obtained a degree in Philosophy and Theology. She found it difficult to find a job that made use of her degree and became a filmmaker and screenwriter.

Penney made and directed a number of short films. She was successful in her field and had not given much consideration to writing novels. During a time when she didn’t have much work, she started her first novel as a sequel to one of her screenplays.

Penney has an amazing imagination as she has never travelled to Northern Canada where ‘The Tenderness of Wolves’ is set or to the North Pole where ‘Under a Pole Star’ is set. She researches her novels extensively from libraries.
